Grammarians Hockey Club was founded in 1951 sand has ever since been at the forefront of local hockey. The club was founded by the Christian Brothers at the time teaching at the boys Grammar School. At the time they competed in other sports such as Football, Table Tennis and Cricket, however it was at hockey where the club founds its success dominating the local sports scene for decades and competing at very high levels abroad, winning multiple trophies and competitions.

The club has lived up to its motto "Estote Stabiles" (Stand Firm).

Locally, the Club has won nine consecutive league titles on two occasions (1953-1961 & 1984-1992) this currently the local record.  With a record number of European Cup Competition participation the club has by no means settled for simply taking part and on several occasions brought back trophies during the many years.

One of the most memorable matches would be beating the English Champions Teddington by 3-1, securing promotion to the highest tier of European Hockey (A Division) making it into the top 8 teams in Europe.
