Grammarians Hockey Club was founded in 1951 by the Christian Brothers who, at the time, were teaching at the boys Grammar School. It was at hockey where the club founds its success dominating the local sports scene for decades and competing at very high levels abroad, winning multiple trophies and competitions.

The club has lived up to its motto "Estote Stabiles" (Stand Firm).

Locally, the Club has won nine consecutive league titles on two occasions (1953-1961 & 1984-1992) this currently the local record. With a record number of European Cup Competition participation the club has by no means settled for simply taking part and on several occasions brought back trophies during the many years.
